We knew this day would come, and the confusion that would ensue. Madden NFL 25 is the second game in the long-running American Football series to bear this title. The first Madden NFL 25 was released in 2013 to celebrate the series 25th anniversary. I will try not to confuse the two here. Anyways, Madden NFL 25 – the second iteration – is out today for those who purchased the Deluxe Edition on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
This time, Madden NFL 25 2 features Christian McCaffrey as the cover star, the first RB to feature on the cover since 2013. Yes, that was Madden NFL 25 1, and that featured either Barry Sanders or Adrian Peterson, depending on which console generation you were playing that game on. You know, just in case things weren’t confusing enough.
In terms of new features for Madden NFL 25 Part 2, the FieldSENSE technology introduced in Madden NFL 23 has had another improvement. On current gen consoles, BOOM Tech has added further improvements to ball carrying, the Hit Stick and the tackling animations. These improvements should hopefully make things feel less scripted and give the player more control.
Also on current generation hardware only is improvements to the overall immersion of game day itself. Brand-new commentary crews, changes to Franchise mode and even new 3D turf, these improvements aim to bring you closer to the action than ever before.
Speaking of Franchise mode, this has had yet another revamp as well. The NFL Draft has had the biggest changes, attempting the recreate the excitement that only a first-round pick can bring. You can now also meet Roger Goodell after choosing your picks, if that sort of thing interests you.
Finally, the new Team Builder website allows you to fully create your own NFL team. Design your own logos, kits and field and then upload it for use in Madden NFL 25 (the new version, not the old one) and Franchise Mode.
And of course, all your other favourite modes like Superstar, Ultimate Team and all the online modes make a welcome return.
