In the streamer's expansive catalogue there are all kinds of films, including all-time classics, but here we're going to focus on its most recent (and best) releases.
Despite some missteps (make sure to stay away from the likes of Ricky Stanicky and Role Play), there are many Prime Video original movies that are worth your time, like the recently released The Idea of You — an amazing romance starring Anne Hathaway. It's also the third Nicholas Galitzine movie to make it into this list, following the hilarious Bottoms and the romantic hit Red, White and Royal Blue.

Challengers (2024)
One of the most talked-about movies of the year, Challengers is a must-see film now on Prime Video, so what are you waiting for?
Featuring phenomenal performances from Zendaya, Josh O'Connor and Mike Faist, the movie centres on a love triangle between three tennis players with very different games.
Starting with a tense final in 2019's New Rochelle Challengers competition between Art and Patrick, the movie explores the complicated relationship between these ex-best friends and former tennis promise Tashi Duncan.
The result is an immersive experience through Luca Guadagnino's stunning visual storytelling and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' phenomenal synth score.
Jackpot! (2024)
John Cena teams up with his Barbie co-star Simu Liu and Crazy Rich Asians' Awkwafina for a charming (and surprisingly violent) action-comedy.
Paul Feig's Jackpot! is set in a dystopian reality where murder is legal during 'Grand Lottery' day, since whoever kills the winner immediately gets their multibillion-dollar jackpot.
When aspiring actor Katie Kim (Awkwafina) is announced as the winner and becomes a target, only amateur lottery-protection agent Noel Cassidy (Cena) will be able to help her survive. In exchange for 10% of the prize money, of course.
Forget about Cena's other Prime Video comedy this year, Ricky Stanicky – Jackpot! is the good one.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023)
We're back in Panem with this stunning Hunger Games prequel.
Set over 60 years before the story led by Katniss Everdeen, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes follows the rise and fall and rise again of Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), which we know as the ruthless President of Panem.
However, here we meet him as a young student with high ambitions but very few resources after the war and his father's death. Becoming a mentor to the free-spirited Lucy Gray (Rachel Zegler) in the upcoming 10th Hunger Games will change his life forever.
The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a terrific continuation of the Hunger Games franchise, which expands our understanding of this dystopian world through a fascinating and complex character.
The Idea of You (2024)
Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine star in The Idea of You, based on the book of the same name by Robinne Lee.
The story follows single mum Solène (Hathaway) who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year old Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), the lead singer of the hottest boyband on the planet, August Moon. After meeting-cute at Coachella, the pair start a life-changing relationship.
It debuted with 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and still stands at an impressive 90%, which is testament to the movie's very warm reception among critics.

Anatomy of a Fall (2023)
This Oscar winning French movie is one of the best movies on Prime Video right now. If you missed it in cinemas, you should add it to you watch list as soon as possible!
The story follows Sandra, a woman who becomes the main suspect of her husband's death. Through the trial, we get to know the details of their marriage and the theories of what could have happened that morning in their isolated house in the French Alps. Was he murdered or was it suicide?
By the end, every viewer will have the same question: Is Sandra guilty?
The Zone of Interest (2023)
It's the most devastating movie of 2024, and it's available on Prime Video for those brave enough to get through it. It's difficult, but it's so worth it.
Based on a Martin Amis novel, The Zone of Interest follows the "ordinary" life of a Nazi family living next to Auschwitz. While high-ranking Nazi official Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel) tries to perfect his formula for mass murder, his wife Hedwig (Sandra Hüller) spends her days creating an ideal home.
The movie doesn't show explicit violence on screen. What happens on the other side of the wall is painfully clear, though, as the ending of The Zone of Interest makes an unforgettable statement.

American Fiction (2023)
Nominated at the Oscars 2024, American Fiction is a thought-provoking dramedy with amazing performances by Jeffrey Wright and Sterling K Brown.
Based on Percival Everett's 2001 novel Erasure, the film follows Thelonious "Monk" Ellison, a frustrated professor and writer who decides to give editors what they want — seeing as his literary fiction isn't very popular with readers, he writes a story full of Black stereotypes and tropes. To his surprise (or not), it ends up becoming a massive success.
American Fiction challenges how we view Black representation in media, with a particularly fascinating storyline involving Issa Rae that makes the movie's ideas even more stimulating.
Bottoms (2023)
This hilarious teenage sex comedy is already a classic — Bottoms is one of the best comedies on Prime Video right now.
Emma Seligman’s sophomore film follows two teenage girls (Rachel Sennott and The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri) who set up a fight club in high school to hook up with beautiful cheerleaders. These very questionable motives become the foundation of a story of female solidarity which is both absurd and political.
Bottoms continues a welcome change for sex comedies, with more female and LGBTQ+ representation and a refreshing take on comedy tropes.

Saltburn (2023)
Saltburn became a viral sensation when it first landed on Prime Video back in December 2023, from its controversial sex scenes to its much talked about ending.
Set in 2006's Oxford, the movie follows student Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) as he unexpectedly finds a place among his elite classmates. Despite being branded as "a scholarship boy that buys his clothes from Oxfam", he befriends rich boy Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him to spend the summer in his country family home, Saltburn.
If by some miracle you haven't found out what happens in the story, you are in for a surprise. And if you want to watch if for the 10th time, be our guest!
Reality (2023)
Before her rom-com hit Anyone But You and horror movie Immaculate, Sydney Sweeney gave her best performance in Reality.
A one-location thriller with dialogue taken verbatim from a real-life FBI transcript, the movie follows the interrogation of Reality Winner, a 25-year-old woman who was confronted by the authorities at her home over the leaking of a classified report to the press.
Adapted from her 2019 stage play Is This a Room, Tina Satter's directorial debut is astonishing. It might sound like a dry political drama, but Reality is actually an electric thriller.

Palm Springs (2020)
Tidily dismissing the absurdity of its own premise by having Andy Samberg explain to Cristin Milioti that they're in "One of those infinite time-loop situations you might have heard about," Palm Springs is a bawdy but smart, grown-up comedy about how to cope in relationships – and life – when routine starts to grind.
The pair are a couple you really want to root for, and the situation wrings plenty of new laughs from the time-loop format. Special love to JK Simmons too as the fly in the ointment.
Kneecap (2024)
The raucous comedy-drama from West Belfast sees real-life hip-hop trio Kneecap star as themselves in the story of how they rose to prominence by asserting their rights as Irish-language speakers, and harnessing the powerful Republican sentiments in their community in the years after the IRA ceasefire.
Political, rude and frank – like the lads themselves – it's not your typical let's-put-a-band-together biopic.

Immaculate (2024)
It was the year nunsploitation returned with a vengeance, and there's little between this and The First Omen in terms of quality. The patriarchy is firmly in both films' sights, and at a time when women's bodily autonomy was under sustained assault in the US, the rage-filled Immaculate – and its incredibly powerful ending –was especially resonant.
Devout American nun Sydney Sweeney joins a Catholic hospice for nuns in Italy only to find herself miraculously pregnant. Horror, rather than divine revelation, ensues.
Red, White and Royal Blue (2023)
Looking for a fun romantic comedy? Red, White and Royal Blue should be at the top of your list.
Adapted from Casey McQuiston’s bestseller of the same name, the story sees the son of the US President Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and Britain’s Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) fall in love after falling first into a post-box-size wedding cake.
With all the romance tropes you are hoping for, from 'enemies to lovers' to 'opposites attract' to 'forbidden romance', Red, White and Royal Blue is delightfully ridiculous and totally romantic.
A sequel has now been confirmed by Prime Video, so catch up with the first one as soon as possible!

Joy Ride (2023)
Crazy Rich Asians writer Adele Lim debuted as a director with Joy Ride, a highly entertaining and extremely horny comedy that stands among the best movies on Prime Video right now.
Starring Emily in Paris's Ashley Park, Everything Everywhere All at Once's Stephanie Hsu, Turning Red's Sherry Cola and comedian Sabrina Wu, the story follows a group of friends as they embark on a trip through Asia to search for Audrey's (Park) birth mother.
Joy Ride delivers the perfect balance of hilarious, raunchy and sweet, which is not easy!
The Boys in the Boat (2023)
Directed by two-time Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker George Clooney, The Boys in the Boat is an inspiring true story starring Master of the Air's Callum Turner.
Adapted from Daniel James Brown's book, the story follows the US men's rowing team at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin as Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party's control rises in Germany.
Other cast members include Star Wars' Joel Edgerton, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines' Jack Mulhern, Little Women's Hadley Robinson, and I Still See You's Thomas Elms.

Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret (2023)
It was one of the best movies of 2023 even if not enough people talked about it — Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret is a pitch-perfect coming-of-age movie with great performances and a lot of heart.
Based on Judy Blume's beloved 1970 novel of the same name, the story follows 11-year-old Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson) as she learns what it means to hit puberty. When her life is turned upside down by a new home and school, Margaret finds herself learning to understand the changes she is going through.
With the amazing Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates playing Margaret's mother and grandmother, this movie is like a warm hug.
The Burial (2023)
Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones lead the cast of The Burial, which is inspired by true events.
The story follows funeral home owner Jeremiah O'Keefe, as he hires the charismatic attorney Willie E Gary to save his family business after a deal has gone awry. This unusual pair forget their differences and team up in order to expose corporate corruption and racial injustice.
This Prime Video original movie is everything you expect from a great courtroom drama and then some.
