The Hotel Capitalon Avenidas Novas is very close to all the attractions of the city centre with reasonable rates and clean rooms.

Hotel Pestana Palace

One of the premier hotels in the city is theHotel Pestana Palace. Considered a national monument, the 19thcentury palace is in a residential area and has gorgeous walled gardens area. There are indoor and outdoor pools with lots of room amenities. The location is a bit outside the city, about two miles from the centre.

Fortaleza do Guincho Hotel

TheFortaleza do Guincho Hotelin Cascais is a luxury property within walking distance of Guincho Beach. Oitavos Fort is about 2 ½ miles away. There is a pleasant bar and restaurant on the property.

Hotel Inglaterra

TheHotel Inglaterrain Estoril is two minutes from the ocean. They have a pool, poolside bar and fitness centre. Tamariz Beach is less than 2 miles away.

Casa Vela Guest House

Also near the oceanfront is theCasa Vela Guest House. Located in the centre of Cascais, the beach is about 5 minutes away. Amenities include an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi and free buffet breakfast.

Lisbon Beaches for November

Formosa Beach

Formosa Beach, found on the south end of Santa Cruz, faces a beautiful bay. The cliffs above the beach make it a great spot for photographs. Since it is by the city of Santa Cruz there are plenty of facilities such as beach chairs, snack bars, etc. There is a long walk to reach the beach and the climb back to the car park areas is steep.

Navio or Ship Beach

Navio or Ship Beachis named after a shipwreck that took place there almost a century ago. There are plenty of facilities here too including showers, toilets and a parking lot. They also rent umbrellas, chairs and other beach paraphernalia.

Praia do Porto Novo

Praia do Porto Novo has great infrastructure too but it of course comes at the cost of being a bit crowded in the summer months. By November, however, there should be plenty of space if you are hearty enough to want to spend time at the beach.

Bars and Restaurants

The Castro Beerhas it all: food wine, dancing and atmosphere. You will find it on Rua Sao Paulo.

Fabrica das Verdadeiras Queijadas da Sapa

For pastries and baked goods, there is the Fabrica das Verdadeiras Queijadas da Sapa. It has been around since the mid 18thcentury. They are famous for their queijadas which are a very sweet pastry filled with cheese, sugar and cinnamon.

Tacho Real

Tacho Realserves steaks and seafood in equal measures. The cavernous interior dates back to the 17thcentury. The address is in the Sao Marinho neighbourhood.

Music Box

Hard to get in due to the long lines, and with female bouncers guarding the door, the Music Box attracts an interesting, eclectic, clientele. The building housing the club is it is under an old aqueduct on Rua Nova.

The UpScale bar

The UpScale barin the Epic Sana Hotel has good drinks and great views. It is by the Marques de Pombal traffic circle.

Tulhas

Tulhas in Sintra is housed in the converted grain warehouse. Hearty Portuguese fare is the mainstay of the menu, you must try some of this fresh delicious food in Lisbon.

For a modest fee, sometimes free, you can get a guided tour. The museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Castle of Saint Philip

TheForte e Sao Filipe or the Castle of Saint Philipis a very ancient site. Archaeological remains from the prehistoric era have been found here. The fort structure was first built in the 14thcentury and was supposed to help control the river entrance.

The Setubal Archaeological and Ethnographic Museumis very small but has a nice collection of prehistoric artefacts found nearby.

Garcia de Orta
